Used Volvo XC90

Swedish carmaker Volvo entered the premium 4x4 market with its XC90 model back in 2002.  The current Volvo XC90 range is available in the UK priced between £35,695 and £42,795. It has been a popular model for Volvo over the past decade, and to keep the range fresh a second generation of the XC90 is expected in the not too distant future.  One source of the 7-seater XC90’s popularity is Volvo’s impregnable reputation for safety, and the model boasts an overall 5-star top score from Euro NCAP safety rating.

The longevity of the Volvo XC90 model means you be able to choose from a good volume of used examples. The first port of call for newer used examples would be your local Volvo main dealer, who sell approved used Volvo XC90’s under the auspices of its Volvo Selekt scheme.  Volvo Selekt approved used cars are under 5-years old and under 100,000-miles.  A Volvo XC90 bought in this way will have full service history, have been checked and prepared by a Volvo-approved technician, and have an MOT test warranty in addition to a 12-month, unlimited mileage warranty with European roadside assistance cover.  You can locate you local Volvo dealer using the search facility on the Swedish carmaker’s UK website.

You may also be able to find a used Volvo XC90 for sale at a smaller independent motor dealer, or from a private seller.  This will most likely have not been prepared to the same standard, or undergone the same level of checks, as an approved used car purchased from an authorised Volvo dealership.  You can conduct your own research into the history of the car before buying, and there are a number of firms offering a service to check out the history of a car to make sure it is not stolen, written off, and does not have any outstanding finance owed upon it.  Doing this may give you additional peace of mind before parting with your money.  It is also important to check the car’s service book before buying.  This will tell you whether the car has been serviced and repaired by a Volvo-approved service centre.  This may be additionally important if the Volvo XC90 you are considering buying is still within it’s 3-year, 60,000-mile warranty included with the car when it was purchased new.  If the repairs have not been completed by an approved repairer, or the servicing has not been done at the specified intervals, the warranty may have been voided.
