New Volvo XC90

Volvo’s premium 7-seater 4x4, the XC90 has been with us for a decade now.  It is still a popular choice in that sector of the new car market, and Volvo has announced plans to introduce a new generation of the XC90 in the near future.

The Volvo XC90 range is priced new between £35,695 and £42,795 depending on the trim level selected.  All models in the XC90 range share the same 197bhp, 20-valve, 2.4-litre diesel engine and 6-speed Geartronic automatic gearbox.  This combination gives the Volvo XC90 a combined fuel economy return of 34.4mpg, a top speed of 127mph, and a 0-62mph time of 10.3 seconds.   The Volvo XC90 is a strong load-lugger, with a boot capacity of 1,837-litres once the rear row of seats has been lowered, increasing from 249-litres with the seats in situ.  The XC90 carries seven in comfort, and continues the Volvo tradition of safety with a 5-star rating from Euro NCAP after extensive crash testing.

The entry-level model is the Volvo XC90 D5 AWD ES.  This model has a price tag of £35,695, and has a standard equipment list which includes power steering, central locking, dynamic stability control, alloy wheels, climate control, electric front and rear windows, cruise control, rear parking sensor, CD player with MP3 connectivity, alarm and immobiliser, and driver, passenger, and front side airbags.  Bluetooth and sat nav can be added at a cost.  The top-spec model is the £42,795 Volvo XC90 D5 AWD R-DESIGN Premium Geartronic, which adds leather seats, bluetooth, and sat nav to its list of standard equipment.  Optional extra’s across the range include electric sunroof for £850, metallic paint for £700, and rear seat entertainment for £1,200.
